How are Engineering and End User confidence related?
It’s very simple. Any invention which gives confidence to the End User that it will work is a perfect example of Engineering. Working Good or working Bad is a different thing.
Take any example, Driving a Car, Bridges, Railway Tracks, Big Swanky Airports, Multilane Expressways, Transfer of Data. Nowadays even shoes which we use to (Run, Walk, Jog, or just wear Casual, Yes they say you have to wear different shoes for these different purposes, they do have a Catch-All shoe style as well – they call it Lifestyle Shoes) involves a lot of Engineering.
If you have used any of the above things, you will realize that better the engineering higher the confidence. The higher the confidence more is the price. That’s how their price is justified. Because engineers like us sweat it out sleepless nights and dreamy days, companies get a chance to market their product at a higher price. And it’s not about features (Think of Android) / Not about benefits ( Think of any third Party OS like OS from Xiomi), Its simple plain reliability (Think iOS), and confidence.
The difference is clearly visible when you come across a well-engineered product or a badly engineered product. Good Engineering feels natural, No need to explain the product. They are simple. Bad Engineering creates complexity and hence requires effort and makes it difficult for the end-user.
Well-Engineered Road gives you the confidence to drive fast.
Well-Engineered Cars gives you the confidence to travel long and tough terrains.
We, Engineers, strive to give this confidence to the End Users, that in any situation you will not need to contact us. We are there in our machines in the form of the force behind every Action, In every reaction, you throw at them we respond back. Trust is what we want to build.
If you want to sell any consumer product, demo it to your parents. If they understood it and are ready to buy. Go ahead and market it. That product is going to be a hit.
